The security features of SAP Enterprise Portal include:
Authentication – Confirms or denies user identity through user ID and password. This can be done by using the existing LDAP Server. Follow the link to learn how to configure a LDAP. A local database can also be used for authentication. Users are created and stored locally in SAP Portal database.
Authorization – Enforces role-based authorization for all content under the administrative control of the portal and prevents unauthorized access.

Video for creating users and assigning roles
Creating iView - Lets start with creating an iView. This video will help you to create an url iView. I created an iView for http://www.sapecc.com. I changed the height to full screen.
Creating page - This video will guide us in creating a page and linking the iView we created to this page. I made this page very simple with one column, and with one iview.
Creating role- This video will help us create a role and link the page created above to this role. Who ever is assigned this role will get access to the page we created with iView.
Make sure when creating the role that the entry point is changed to yes or else you won't see the tab when you sign on.
Assigning role - This video will shows us how to assign the above created role to an end user. Then we will sign on as this users and validate if we can see the role.
In this video we will sign on as a test user and see if all the above work. We do see a tab which has the role we created above, which in-fact has the page and which in-fact has the iview.
